ISO Approve Three PSTC Test Methods

Northbrook, Ill., August 1, 2007 - The Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) received approval on three test methods from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO):

  • Peel Adhesion of Pressure Sensitive Tape (PSTC 101)
  • Shear Adhesion of Pressure Sensitive Tape (PSTC 107)
  • Breaking Strength and Elongation of Pressure Sensitive Tape (PSTC 131)

ISO is considered to be the world's leading developer of international standards. PSTC has been working with its sister organizations in Europe (Afera) and Japan (JATMA) to see these methods through the ISO approval process.

A fourth PSA tape test method is being approved in Europe to receive EN designation and following this process will be submitted to ISO by AFNOR, a French National Standards Organization.

  • Thickness (Caliper) of Pressure Sensitive Tapes (PSTC 133)

The three approved methods, and 26 more spanning adhesion, stain resistance, electrical and other categories, are available in PSTC's 15th edition of Test Methods for Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes. View the table of contents.
