PSTC 2005 Week of Learning Raises the Bar on Tape Knowledge

Northbrook, Ill., May 16, 2005 - More than 540 tape professionals from 14 countries attended the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) 2005 Week of Learning, taking their tape knowledge to the next level and increasing their effectiveness on the job. The event was held May 2-6 in Baltimore, Md.

Key event of the week was the 28th technical seminar featuring more than 25 technical paper presentations on tape topics, as well as a focused panel presentation on acid level and adhesion modifiers on liner lock-up with solvent-based adhesives. Papers are published in the conference proceedings, available at www.pstc.org. Douglas Weiss, Ph.D., 3M, was named the 2005 Carl Dahlquist award winner for his paper entitled "Pulsed Electron Beam Polymerization," which can be viewed at www.pstc.org/publications/tech_seminar.php.

Other Week of Learning events included:
  • Two Tape University classes: the two-day 102 highly technical course for advanced personnel and the new, one-day 100 course offering the basics for sales and marketing team members.
  • Radiation Cure Workshop: a three-hour workshop on this leading alternative technology in the coatings industry.
  • Exhibit Showcase: more than 54 leading suppliers to the tape industry were present to support their customers at the PSTC event.
  • Poster presentations: nearly 15 informal presentations of technical works-in-progress for attendee discussion and enhancement.

PSTC 2006 Week of Learning is set for May 1-5 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. The TECH XXIX call for papers is available at www.weekoflearning.pstc.org; abstracts are due August 31, 2005.
