PSTC 2006 Week of Learning Draws Record Numbers

Northbrook, Ill., May 22, 2006 - More than 585 tape professionals from 14 countries attended the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) 2006 Week of Learning, May 1-5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Providing new tape knowledge to increase individual job effectiveness and overall industry progress was the name of the game.

Key event of the week was the 29th technical seminar featuring 23 technical and business presentations on tape topics. Papers are published in the conference proceedings, available at www.pstc.org. Victor Lu, Cytec Specialty Chemicals, was named the 2006 Carl Dahlquist award winner for his paper entitled "New Developmental UV Curable Pressure Sensitive Adhesives" which can be viewed at www.pstc.org/technical.

PSTC established The John Johnston Adhesive Technology Session to be held at future seminars in recognition of this individual's contributions to the PSA industry in 50-plus years of service. Johnston was present to receive his award.

Other Week of Learning events included:

  • Two Tape University classes: the two-day 102 technical course for advanced personnel and the one-day course with basics for sales and marketing team members.
  • Web Handling Workshop: a two-hour workshop to help producers maximize line speed while maintaining quality output.
  • Exhibit Showcase: 57 leading suppliers to the tape industry present to support their customers at the PSTC event.
  • Poster presentations: 12 informal presentations of technical works-in-progress for attendee discussion and enhancement.
