Video focuses on PSA tape used in transportation industry
The Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC), a not-for-profit North American trade association for certified pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape manufacturers and affiliate suppliers, has produced a short video to highlight some of the critical applications and uses of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) tape used in the transportation industry.
PSA’s have been increasingly used in vehicles as alternatives to clips, bolts and rivets, and to improve the speed and ease of assembly versus use of liquid adhesives.
PSA tape can be used to decrease weight, improve aesthetics, improve performance and save time and money, all the while meeting the rigorous test conditions necessary for materials used in the transportation industry.
In the PSTC-produced video, the needs and uses of tape in automotive and other segments of transportation are explained and shown.
Examples of PSA tape testing at the Element Materials Technology Lab in Warren, MI., are shown in the 6-plus minute video. Properties of tape are also explained in the video as well, which can be viewed by going to www.thinktape.org/transportation.
